Items To Bring To the Hospital Or Surgery Center On Surgery Day
Nearly every Seattle area hospital, and day surgery center, provides patients with written recommendations regarding what the patient should bring to the hospital on the day of the patient's medical procedure. The following list includes many of the items that hospitals and surgery centers recommend:
- medical insurance card (a photocopy is usually acceptable)
- photo identification (a photocopy is usually acceptable)
- surgery check-in information sheet
- case for eyeglasses
- case for dentures
- case for hearing aid
Almost more important than the list of items to bring to the hospital are items that patient should leave at home and not bring to the hospital on surgery day. The written lists that physicians' offices often provide day surgery patients about what not to bring to the hospital on surgery day usually includes:
- anything valuable
- oral medications
- nasal sprays
- topical ointments
- eye drops
- inhalers
The items list above are not an exhaustive list. Please consult with the attending physician and/or the physician s staff for additional recommendations about what items they recommend day surgery patients bring to the hospital with them on surgery day, and what items day surgery patients should leave at home.
